Animal Activist Artwork

August 17, 2019 by Elizabeth Montague

In this post I'm going to be adding the animal activist artwork that I'm making and hoping to do more of. Animal activism about endangered animals, animals rights, veganism, speciesism, animal abuse prevention, spay and neuter to prevent pet over-population etc... those are the causes nearest and dearest to my heart. … [Read more...] about Animal Activist Artwork

Happy to be Vegan for the Animals

November 29, 2018 by Elizabeth Montague

I've recently passed my first year anniversary of eating a strictly vegan diet. I was vegetarian on and off many times in my life, starting at age 16 while traveling in Africa and seeing so many amazing animals there. Unfortunately I was never able to be completely vegetarian for long and gave up trying for most of my life. I think I've been able … [Read more...] about Happy to be Vegan for the Animals

Beautiful winter sunrise this morning.
Meteorological Versus Astronomical Seasons: ▪️▪️The natural rotation of Earth around the sun forms the basis for the astronomical calendar, in which we define seasons with two solstices and two equinoxes. Astronomical Winter 2019 starts December 21st.
▪️▪️Meteorologists and climatologists break the seasons down into groupings of three months based on the annual temperature cycle as well as our calendar. Meteorological Winter started today, December 1st.

I took a walk early this morning to what locals call Cemetary Park though the official name is Memorial Park. It used to be a cemetary and still has people buried there, but now it's mainly used as a dog park. The view from there is beautiful. I love watching the dogs play at the park, but it's a bit weird going to dog parks with no dog. It's kind of sad but in some ways I enjoy it more with no dog of my own because I used to always worry about dog fights when I had my own dogs at dog parks and could never really relax. 😬 🐕🐩🐕 Poinsettias are the official flower of the town, I love them, especially when they grow tree size. 🍁🍂 It's gotten quite cold all of a sudden now that the rain has stopped temporarily. Have you ever noticed how its always warmer when it's raining? 🌧

I went on a mini road trip yesterday. I visited 3 beaches I'd never been to before. This was the first beach in Lompoc, CA. While I was there, some horse back riders arrived. There were very few people on the beach. You can't tell from these photos, but the waves were huge! A park ranger told me they were up to 15 feet! It was so great to be able walk the distance to the beach with no knee problems. 🌊

At the beach yesterday. Getting older is so humbling in some ways. I'm not the type for botox and all that (not yet anyway) I'm not even wearing any makeup lately. I usually at least do my eyebrows. It's nice not to be a slave to makeup.

I took a walk on the beach yesterday, it was a beautiful afternoon. There were many many birds there again. Though most were gulls, there were also what seemed to be several varieties of sandpipers on the sand and also a lot of pelicans flying up and down the beach and just above the waves. I was very happy to see the pelicans especially because I hadn't seen many lately. 🌊 I've been feeling a bit fatigued lately and thought I might be getting the flu (even though I had a flu shot over a month ago) but walking on the beach yesterday lifted my spirits and my knee problem seems to have finally healed so that's a relief and hopefully I can start getting regular exercise again.

I hadn't intended to do selfies today. I was just going for a quick walk on my short street. I've put on a little weight while letting my knee heal. I still don't trust my knees walking up and down the hills around here though so I would have to drive somewhere to exercise where there aren't hills. I really can't afford to mess up my knees again though so am being very cautious even when I'm off the hills. I normally like to exercise outside either walking or riding my bike from home, so up here on the hill I feel like a fish out of water, well I'm sure not as bad as that feels, but you know what I mean. I should probably join a gym, but don't really have time for that right now. 😐 Soon I hope to start exercising again, one way or another. 🦋 #selfies #elizabethmontague #selfportraits #ifeelfat #ineedexercise #recuperating #kneeproblems

Yesterday afternoon I took a much needed beach break. I've never seen so many birds at the beach before. When I first got there, there were twice as many but half flew away. Most were seagulls, but there was also a group of sandpipers (I think that's what they're called) 🌊 #seagulls #birds #seabirds #flock #beach #ocean #sea #ventura #california #bluesky #wildlife #free #nature

What else would you expect a gang of rapists and murderers to drink? That's right, milk, the cruelest beverage in the world. The milk industry is the killer of baby calves and the enslaver of countless mama cows who are subjected to being repeatedly raped (artificial insemination) and then having their babies stolen from them and killed over and over again, then to be slaughtered when they are no longer useful. Most people don't realize this is where milk comes from. Cows only produce milk when they have calves to feed, but dairy farmers don't let the calves have their mothers milk because the farmers sell the real milk. The calves are either killed or kept for a while before slaughter and are fed a reconstituted milk replacement. I wonder if the author of Clockwork Orange had intended to use milk to represent that particular evil.
